From invite: Hustings event specifically targeting women to encourage them to take part in the democratic process. As you will be aware, during the last General Election 9.1 million women did not exercise their right to vote.
Taken from the invitation: Wednesday April 22nd a closed hustings event will take place as an opportunity for Christians to meet selected candidates from both Luton constituencies. Candidates from both constituencies representing Conservatives, Green Party, Labour, Liberal Democrats, and UKIP have been invited. This meeting is not open to the general public but only to members/regular attendees […]
Question Time style debate with all Luton North candidates taking part.
I will be joining MPs and Parliamentary Candidates from across Three Counties to debate on the topic of Elderly Care in front of a live audience. The event will be chaired by Jonathan Vernon-Smith, recorded on the evening and broadcast on his programme at a later date.
Following another successful morning canvassing in Luton North, I popped down to see another excellent play by Luton’s Next Generation Youth Theatre. It was a powerful piece that looked at the challenges of growing up, in particular in the age of social media. Very thought provoking. I look forward to future events!
I have been canvassing out in Luton North this morning as usual. Lot’s of positive feedback on the doorstep and great support from our campaign team. Thanks to everyone I met whilst out today, all your comments and feedback are invaluable in helping develop a strategy that puts you at the heart of my […]
We ended a busy day with a get-together for a regular Luton Conservative Association evening at the Indian Ocean in Sundon Park. In attendance were old colleagues and new supporters. Thanks to the staff for a wonderful evening with great food.
I was very saddened to attend the Saints Community Centre closing down ‘party’. There is no good excuse for Labour’s Luton Borough Council to close the centre other than poor management of local finances. I undertook a Freedom of Information request to understand the true cost of the Centre. It is a minimal […]
I was kindly invited along with other local Parliamentary Candidates to meet with the Chairman and colleagues at the Luton & Dunstable Hospital. The meeting covered many topics, from the Hospital’s use of common sense measures combined with technology is increasing efficiency, and therefore care of patients. The team at L&D impressed me with […]
I was delighted to be invited to visit the Royal Mail Home Counties North Distribution Centre along with Katie Redmond (Prospective MP, Luton South). The team gave us a fascinating tour of the Centre. We were shown the full life-cycle from post-bag to preparation for delivery, covering how the post is organised every morning, how the machines […]
I dropped in to meet with locals at the Old Moat House Pub in Luton North. It was fun but not an easy ride. Locals challenged me on a range of topics from whether they can trust politicians to frustrations with the local council. I was pleased to say it was a great night and I was […]
I was out in Bramingham with candidate John Young and Cllr Gilbert Campbell. We got a great reception on the doorstep and even some in-depth debate. At one door, a gentleman took me to task about politicians not having ‘real life’ experience. I explained that I’d worked my way from a normal working class background through […]
I was back out in Luton North with candidates. We met with a young man who hopes to study for his masters in Marketing. I was pleased that after I shared my vision for Luton North, he shared that he’ll be voting Conservative for Luton North. This has been echoed across many doorsteps. In Luton North, I […]
To support our campaign in Luton, the Luton Conservative Association hosted a fundraiser on the Parliamentary Campaign candidates, myself and Katie Redmond. The event was a real successful. Rt Hon Dr Liam Fox MP hosted the event, which had guests from far and wide and across industry and academia. The support was incredible from all the […]
I was delighted to join Katie Redmond (PPC Luton South) and many Council candidates to attend a meet and greet at Luton Conservative Club. I had lots of fun answering questions and discussing my local vision for Luton North. The support was very strong, with many locals sharing their deep concern at a Labour/SNP coalition […]
I was delighted to be invited to visit the University of Bedfordshire (UoB). The personal tour covered a tour of the Luton Campus, an enthralling meeting with Student Union’s Executive Officers and visit to the Department of Art & Design. I applaud the University for its recent successes and achievements. These include winning the Queen’s Anniversary Prize in 2013 in […]
I was proud to be invited to auction a special print of my painting ‘Our Greatest Briton – Sir Winston Churchill’ at a unique ‘Churchill Remembered’ event. My one-off print was kindly signed by the Prime Minister Rt Hon David Cameron MP in support of our Luton North campaign. The night was an incredible success […]
In my professional role (i.e. non-political), I was asked to give a lecture at University College London (UCL) on business trends and marketing consultancy. Over the years I have worked with several Universities to provide guidance and mentoring to students. Coming from a working class background where hard work has led to University and a successful […]
I attended the Bedfordshire Police Crime Commissioner Public Meeting at Bury Park Community Resource Centre. The event was announced as ‘Bedfordshire Police and Crime Commissioner Olly Martins will be attending this public meeting to discuss and answer questions on the May 7th 2015 referendum to hike the Beds Police tax precept by 15.8%.’ You can read the […]
I was out again with local council candidates in Icknield. It was a glorious (despite rather chilly) day. Lots of great banter on the doorstep, with the same old story once again. Residents saying they are fed up with that Labour’s local administration not listening to their concerns. Along with several residents actively stating their agreement we must continue […]
